The Opportunity
Join as an early engineer to build the core backend systems, data pipelines, and integrations that power intelligent freight insights at scale. You'll work directly on the infrastructure and data systems that define the technical foundation of a company targeting $125M ARR in 5 years.
What You'll Build
Backend Systems & APIs
Build versatile, scalable backend services and APIs that power the platform
Data Pipelines & Ingestion
Design and build pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform messy real-world freight data at scale
Database Infrastructure
Design schemas, optimize queries, and build the data layer across Postgres and related systems
Integrations
Build integrations with TMS systems, external data sources, and strategic partners
What We're Looking For
Product & Startup Mindset
- Comfort with ambiguity; builds MVPs quickly
- Strong product intuition — able to turn data and ideas into customer-facing insights
- Experience in early-stage startups ready for scale
- Pragmatic, fast, iterative, and relentlessly resourceful
- Curious and has the ability to learn on the job to use the right tool for the job
Backend / Full Stack
- Deep experience building versatile backend systems and APIs
- Very strong Python skills (primary language)
- Experience with MVC frameworks and RESTful API design
- Understands distributed systems, event-driven workflows, caching, and logging
Data Engineering
- Strong SQL and Postgres expertise, schema design and optimization
- Experience building data pipelines and ingestion systems at scale
- Skilled at cleaning, normalizing, and transforming messy real-world data
- Geospatial/location tracking data processing (nice to have)
AI / Machine Learning / LLMs
- Experience working with LLM-powered workflows (agents, tool use, structured outputs)
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, JSON outputs, guardrails
- Exposure to ML systems in production (evaluation, monitoring)
